The duties of a safety advisor include the following activities:
a) Monitoring compliance with the requirements for the transport of dangerous goods;
b) Advising the company on the transport of dangerous goods.
The duties of a safety advisor also include monitoring the following practices and procedures:
c) Procedures for complying with the requirements for the identification of dangerous goods being transported;
d) The company's practice of taking into account the special requirements of the goods being transported when purchasing means of transport;
e) Procedures for checking equipment used in connection with the transport, packaging, filling, loading and unloading of dangerous goods;
f) Implementation of appropriate emergency procedures for accidents and incidents that may threaten safety during the transport, packaging, filling, loading or unloading of dangerous goods;
g) Implementation of appropriate measures to prevent the recurrence of accidents, incidents or serious violations of regulations;
h) Taking into account the regulations and special requirements relating to the transport of dangerous goods when selecting subcontractors and partners;
i) Checking that employees involved in the dispatch, transport, packaging, filling, loading or unloading of dangerous goods have received detailed procedures and instructions;
j) Implementing control procedures to verify that the means of transport is equipped with the required documents and emergency equipment and that such documents and equipment comply with the regulations;
k) Implementing control procedures to verify compliance with packaging, filling, loading and unloading requirements.
At the express request of the Client, the duties of the safety advisor may be extended to include the following activities:
a) Preparing an annual report on the company's activities in the field of dangerous goods transport;
b) Proper training of the company's employee(s), including changes in regulations, using distance learning (online) methods and storage of training documentation;
c) Conducting investigations and, where applicable, preparing reports on serious accidents, incidents or serious infringements of regulations during the transport, packaging, filling, loading or unloading of dangerous goods;
d) Implementing measures to increase awareness of the risks associated with the transport, packaging, filling, loading and unloading of dangerous goods;
e) Preparing and submitting a security plan.
